Step 1: Audio Permissions
When the app launches for the first time, it asks for your permission to access the microphone and music library on your device. You can change these permissions anytime via the Privacy menu in your device's global settings.
Step 2: Start the Free Trial
When the app is first installed, its audio features are locked. When the app launches, it prompts you to begin the free trial. If you are ready to explore the audio features, go ahead and start the trial. This requires an Internet connection; for more information see Unlocking.
Step 3: Dive In
By default, the app is ready to analyze the microphone input.
If you don't see a microphone icon in the song title area:

You can freeze and resume the analysis at any time:

If you don't see a microphone icon in the song title area:
- Tap the Settings tab.
- Select the Source menu, then the Microphone option.
- Tap the Spectrum tab.
If you see a microphone icon in the song title area:
- Tap the play button to begin analyzing live sound.
- Speak, sing or play some music.
- Check the audio meter to confirm a signal is present.
- View results in the analysis area of any one of these tabs:
- The Spectrum tab shows a chromatic view of the audio spectrum.
- The Tuning tab shows the detune amount for up to five notes.
- The Notes tab shows the most likely chord and key context.
You can freeze and resume the analysis at any time:
- Tap the pause button.
- Inspect the analysis views as needed.
- Tap the play button.
To analyze a song from your library:
- Tap the Settings tab.
- Select the Source menu, then the Song Library option.
- Tap the Spectrum tab.
- Tap in the song title area (which shows "Pick A Song" on a fresh install).
- Select a song from your library.
- If the song is not yet playing, tap the play button.
- View results. Tap on the Tuning and Notes tabs also.
- Listen to the music via the speaker(s) or headphones.
- Use the skip buttons to jump backwards or forwards in steps of 10sec.
